Every Crazytel NBN® connection, from a one-rack homelab to a 40-site business fleet, gets the same tools Crazytel's engineers use. That includes live session checks, real NBN® line tests, NBN® box and UNI-D port telemetry, network-side session restarts, VDSL stability profiles and HMAC-signed webhooks. All of it is included at no extra cost on every speed tier and all six access technologies: FTTP (including 2.5 Gbps NTDs), HFC, FTTC, FTTN, FTTB and Fixed Wireless. NBN® is managed in MyAccount (https://myaccount.crazytel.com.au/nbn/) alongside Crazytel SIP trunks, CrazyPBX, numbers and billing. Works with any router, including UniFi, MikroTik, OPNsense, pfSense, FortiGate and OpenWrt.

## Engineering principles

- **Pure IPoE, never PPPoE**: passwordless, line-based IPoE. Set the WAN to DHCP. There are no PPPoE credentials and no VLAN tag, and you get a full 1500-byte MTU with no 1492-byte MTU or MSS clamping.
- **Real public IPv4, zero CGNAT**: every connection gets a routable public IPv4 address by default. A static IPv4 add-on can be added or removed self-service at order time or later.
- **Online is not healthy**: "Connected" isn't "Online", and "Online" isn't "Healthy". A check shows Passed only when the network's own verdict passes. Unreported metrics show as "Not reported" and are never shown as zero.
- **Real test names, raw readings**: every tool shows a plain-English description beside the exact NBN® test name, plus the network's actual readings (NBN® box serial, UNI-D link state, negotiated Ethernet speed, router MAC learned on the port).

## Live status and session control

- **NBN® Pulse**: a heartbeat for each connection drawn from its last confirmed network state (12 distinct states), with "Stable for N days" taken from the network's last status change.
- **Online Session Check**: queries the live session table in seconds to confirm whether your router holds an active IPoE session.
- **Session Disconnect** ("Restart internet connection"): drops the session from the network side. Your router re-authenticates over IPoE/DHCP in about 2 minutes. Limited to once every 5 minutes and up to 4 times an hour, and every restart is logged on the connection timeline.
- **Virtual NBN® box**: a live drawing of your NTD (1-port, 4-port and 2.5 Gbps FTTP NTDs, HFC box, FTTC NCD, Fixed Wireless WNTD) built from real port telemetry. Click a port to see the service that owns it, whether a device is detected, its negotiated speed and when it was read.

## Health checks and line diagnostics

- **Service Health Summary**: three verdicts (Connection, Speed, Reliability) plus up to 60 grouped readings, covering operational state, optical signal (FTTP), NTD details, the router MAC and any active outage.
- **20-counter drop-out matrix**: drop-outs broken down by cause (total, your equipment, network, unexpected) across five time windows (today, yesterday, 2 days, 7 days, 30 days).
- **Line stability profiles (FTTN/FTTB, $0.00)**: switch self-service between STANDARD (fastest), STABLE (fewer drop-outs) and REPAIR (fewest drop-outs). The change takes effect the next time the modem reconnects.
- Every check, health summary and fault report is saved to the connection history.

### On-demand line checks by technology

Checks that could briefly interrupt traffic need your confirmation first.

## Signed webhooks

- **Up to 10 webhooks** per account, each with its own URL, format, event filter, connection scope, custom headers and signing secret.
- **5 formats**: versioned JSON, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord and Google Chat.
- **Automatic failover URL** if the primary endpoint times out, refuses the connection or returns a 5xx.
- **Scopes**: `all_services`, `single_service`, or `selected_services` filtered by technology or name match.
- **Privacy switches** to strip billing amounts and service addresses per webhook, and up to 5 encrypted custom headers per webhook.
- **26 NBN® events plus a ping**, subscribable individually, by category wildcard (for example `nbn.network.*`) or with `*`:
  - Network outages: `nbn.network.outage`, `nbn.network.outage_resolved`
  - Line diagnostics: `nbn.diagnostics.completed`
  - Orders: `nbn.order.submitted`, `nbn.order.processing`, `nbn.order.completed`, `nbn.order.failed`, `nbn.order.cancelled`
  - Technician visits: `nbn.appointment.booked`, `nbn.appointment.rescheduled`
  - Speed plans: `nbn.plan.change_requested`, `nbn.plan.changed`, `nbn.plan.change_failed`, `nbn.plan.migration_scheduled`
  - Service and IP: `nbn.service.ip_assignment_change_requested`, `nbn.service.ip_assignment_changed`, `nbn.service.ip_assignment_change_failed`, `nbn.service.settings_updated`, `nbn.service.suspended`, `nbn.service.reactivated`, `nbn.service.disconnection_requested`, `nbn.service.disconnected`, `nbn.service.transferred_out`
  - Billing: `nbn.billing.charge_applied`, `nbn.billing.credit_applied`, `nbn.billing.prepaid_debit_warning`
  - Test: `nbn.webhook.ping`
- **Signature verification**: every POST carries `X-Crazytel-Signature-256: t=<timestamp>,v1=<hex>`. Recompute HMAC-SHA256 over `<timestamp>.<raw body>` with your signing secret and compare in constant time. Other headers: `X-Crazytel-Event`, `X-Crazytel-Event-Id`, `X-Crazytel-Event-Version`, `X-Crazytel-Delivery`, `X-Crazytel-Timestamp`.

## Frequently asked questions

### Are health checks, line diagnostics and webhooks a paid add-on?

No. NBN® Pulse, Online Session Check, Session Disconnect, Service Health Summary, technology-specific line checks, VDSL stability profile switching and up to 10 signed webhooks are included with every Crazytel NBN® connection, on every speed tier and access technology.

### Do I have to use any of the nerd features?

Not at all. Plug in your router, set the WAN to DHCP and you're online. The diagnostics and webhooks stay out of your way in MyAccount until you want them.

### Which NBN® access technologies are supported?

All six: FTTP (including multi-gigabit 2.5 Gbps NTDs), HFC, FTTC, FTTN, FTTB and Fixed Wireless. MyAccount only shows the line checks your technology supports.

### Do you use CGNAT or PPPoE?

Neither. Every Crazytel NBN® service uses passwordless IPoE (DHCP) with a full 1500-byte MTU and a real, routable public IPv4 address. A static IPv4 add-on is available self-service in MyAccount.
