# Line stability on NBN® FTTN and FTTB: fewer dropouts

What line stability is on NBN® FTTN and FTTB copper connections, the Standard, Stable and Repair settings, and how to change it to reduce dropouts.

On FTTN and FTTB your internet runs over a copper phone line. If the line keeps dropping out, you can trade a little speed for a steadier connection.

Where to go

My Services › Manage › Line stability

#2 The settings

StandardFastest speed. The NBN® default, for a line that rarely drops out.
StableFewer drop-outs, a little slower. Try this first.
RepairFewest drop-outs, slowest.

#2 Change it

- Open the connection, press Manage, then Line stability.

- Look at How your line has been.

- Press Change to Stable (or another setting).

Good to know. It is free and you can change back. It takes effect the next time your modem reconnects. Not reported yet on the Overview tab means the NBN® network does not report it for every line.
