Smart Routes looks at who is calling, which of your numbers they rang and what time it is, then sends the call where it should go. Set up, configure and optimise your rules in MyAccount or programmatically via our REST API (https://crazytel.io/docs#/), test them without making a single call, and pay a flat **$2.00 per route per month** from your prepaid balance.

## Hero Highlights

- **Badges**: `NEW` · `BETA` · `PREMIUM FEATURE`
- **Route by suburb, state, country or line type**: Australian landline suburbs and states (02, 03, 07, 08), mobile/landline/VoIP/toll-free line types, international callers, withheld callers, exact numbers, prefixes, wildcards and regex.
- **Different handling for each number you own**: Point many Crazytel numbers at one Smart Route and treat each dialled number differently.
- **Business hours, split shifts, after hours and holidays**: Per-route Australian timezone, weekday split shifts, overnight windows, specific dates, date ranges, yearly dates and a Holidays calendar.
- **Free Test a Call simulator**: Test any caller number, dialled number, date and time (including unsaved rule edits) with a rule-by-rule checklist and zero call charges.

## How Calls Reach a Smart Route

1. **From your Crazytel numbers**: In **Number Manager**, choose **Premium Features -> Smart Route** as the destination for a number and pick your route by name.
2. **From other Crazytel features**: Ring Groups, Queues, IVRs, Time Conditions and other Premium Features can pass a call on to a Smart Route, and a Smart Route can chain to another Smart Route.

## Where Calls Can Go (Destinations & Routing Styles)

- **Premium Features**: Ring Group, Queue, IVR, Time Condition, Voicemail, Announcement, Recording Box, AI Bridge, or another Smart Route.
- **Phone numbers**: Any Australian mobile or landline (e.g. 0491 570 156) or international number.
- **Your phone system**: A CrazyPBX extension, a Crazytel SIP Trunk, or a SIP Trunk device.
- **Advanced / End call**: A SIP address on another phone system, or Hang up, Busy or Congestion.
- **Multi-destination styles**: Single destination, Try in order (sequential with custom ring times), Weighted split (percentage distribution), or Take turns (even rotation).

## Safety Nets: Catch-All vs If Unanswered

- **Destination If No Rules Match (Catch-All)**: Runs before anything rings when no rule (and no holiday) matches.
- **If Unanswered**: Runs after ringing (5 to 120 seconds, 30s default) when a phone number, SIP Trunk, device or CrazyPBX extension does not answer, is busy or fails.

## Pricing ($2.00 AUD / route / month)

- **$2.00 per Smart Route per month**, charged from your prepaid Crazytel balance (part-month pro-rata charge on creation, renews monthly).
- **Included**: Up to 100 rules per route, all conditions, Holidays calendar, Catch-All and If Unanswered backups, WAV/MP3 greetings and whispers (up to 10 MB), Press 1 to accept, Caller ID labels (`{suburb}`, `{state}`, `{country}`, `{did}`, `{did_last4}`, `{rule}`), free Test a Call simulator, Visual Call Flow, Call Logs, Rejections, Stats & Usage, Webhooks, and unlimited connected Crazytel numbers.
- **Charged separately**: SMS alerts (per message segment), calls forwarded to external phone numbers (at normal outbound rates), and destination Premium Features under their own pricing.
