CrazyPBX - How to make a CrazyPBX Extension
CrazyPBX Extensions are used to connect calls from Crazytel's CrazyPBX servers to an endpoint device. CrazyPBX Extensions are limited to 2 devices per Extension (1 Crazyphone application, 1 physical IP phone).
How to make a CrazyPBX Extension
- Sign in to your Crazytel Customer Portal account and click CrazyPBX
- Click Extensions from the left-hand menu
- Click Create New Extension on the top-right
- In the pop-up panel, enter the following information.
a. Basic tab:
- Username: This extension's internal ID (IE, 100). This cannot be changed. This should not be an emergency number.
- Password: A temporary password for this extension. This will be reset when a QR code is generated for sign-in.
b. Caller ID tab:
- External Caller ID: The phone number this Extension calls out on.
- Emergency Caller ID: The phone number shown when calling Emergency services.
- Click Create Extension
Your extension is now active and enabled. Don't forget to set up an inbound number!
All CrazyPBX Extension options explained:
- Basic tab:
- Username: An internal number for this extension. This must be 3 digits minimum, and should not be an emergency number. This cannot be changed later.
- Password: A password for this CrazyPBX Extension. This can be changed later, and will be reset when generating a QR Code
- Email address: The email address Crazytel should send voicemail recordings to for this extension.
- Caller ID tab:
- External Caller ID: This is the phone number displayed to dialed numbers
- Internal Caller ID Name: This is the name that shows when calling other CrazyPBX Extensions on your account
- Emergency Caller ID: This is the phone number that is shown when calling emergency services
- Hide External CLI: Enable to show "anonymous" as your external caller ID
c. Voicemail tab:
- Voicemail Password: The voicemailbox access PIN for this CrazyPBX Extension's voicemail
- Timezone: The timezone this CrazyPBX Extension normally operates out of. This allows voicemails to be displayed using local time
- Voicemail Greeting: The voicemail message played when a call reaches this Extension's Voicemail box
- Skip VM Instructions: Enable to skip the voicemail instructions for calls reaching voicemail.
- Email tab:
- Email Handling: Should voicemail messages notify the user (via Basic > *email* address)?
- After Sending: How should the voicemail message be handled after the email nofication has been sent (or not sent)
- Voicemail to SMS tab:
- SMS Number: What mobile number should voicemail notifications be sent to?
- SMS Handling: What information should be sent in the SMS message?
- Calls and SMS tab:
- Call Settings: What types of calls can this extension make?
- Area Code: What is the implied area code of this extension (used when dialing 8-digit numbers, removes need for local area calls using area code)
- Hold Music: Extension specific hold music. (Hold music can be configured globally under CrazyPBX Settings)
- SMS Sender ID: The Virtual Mobile Phone number to send SMS messages from
- Allow Multiple Registrations: Can this Extension be registered on multiple devices?
- Enable SRTP: ⚠️Advanced⚠️ Secure Real-time Transport Protocol - should calls/SMS messages be encrypyed?
CrazyPhone for Mobile does not support SRTP
- Do Not Disturb: Do not Disturb enable/disable DND for this CrazyPBX Extension
- Recording tab: NB: Call recording must be enabled on CrazyPBX for these options to be applied
- Recording Settings: Extension specific recording options. Global options can be configed under the CrazyPBX CrazyPBX Settings Page tab.
- Destinations tab:
- Ring Timeout: How long this extension can ring for before the call is 'missed'
- Timeout Destination: Where do missed calls go? (IE, Voicemail for this Extension)
- Connect Timeout: How long can CrazyPBX try to reach this extension for before the extension is marked 'unreachable'
- Unreachable Destination: Where do calls go when this extension can't be reached? (IE, Voicemail for this Extension)
- Forward Destination: This forwards all calls!! Where should calls be forwarded to?
- Default Failure Destination: Where do calls go if there is a generic failure?
