About Fixed Wireless

NBN® Fixed Wireless: how it works and what you need to get connected.

How it connects

NBN® installs an antenna on your roof, aimed at a nearby tower, and an NBN® box inside your home.

What you need

An NBN®-compatible router. Plug its WAN port into the UNI-D port on the NBN® Fixed Wireless box and set the WAN to Dynamic IP (DHCP). There is no PPPoE login and no VLAN tag.

Speed

Fixed Wireless plans are sold as speed ranges. Use the typical evening speed on each plan as your guide to what to expect.

Power

NBN® services don't work in a power outage, and you can't make calls over them, including to Triple Zero (000).

About Fixed Wireless speeds

Speeds vary with signal, distance from the tower, weather and the number of users. Your speed can vary a lot from minute to minute.

Fixed Wireless questions

Why are Fixed Wireless speeds shown as ranges?

NBN® sells its faster Fixed Wireless speeds as ranges, because speed depends on your signal. The typical evening speed on each plan is the figure to plan around.

How do I know if I have Fixed Wireless?

Check your address at the top of this page. We'll show your connection type, and if it isn't Fixed Wireless, we'll take you to the right plans.

Is there a contract?

No. Every plan is prepaid and month to month, with no lock-in contract and no exit fees.

Can I change plans later?

Yes, any time. Your old plan is credited and the new plan is charged pro-rata. Upgrades need enough balance to cover the difference.

Not sure what you've got?

Check your address and we'll show your NBN® connection type and every plan you can get there.
