NBN® that shows you what the network actually sees.

Most providers hide your line behind an "Everything looks fine" banner and a 45-minute hold queue. Crazytel NBN® hands every connection, from a one-rack homelab to a 40-site business fleet, the same tools our engineers use: live session checks, real NBN® line tests, NBN® box and UNI-D port telemetry, network-side session restarts, VDSL stability profiles and HMAC-signed webhooks.

Bring any router: UniFi MikroTik OPNsense pfSense FortiGate OpenWrt. Manage NBN® beside your Crazytel SIP trunks, CrazyPBX, numbers and billing in one portal.

A quick word before the deep end

If you're anything like us, you like getting your hands dirty.

Here at Crazytel we'd rather read the raw counters than be told "it's probably your Wi-Fi". We want the router MAC on the port, the drop-out history and the webhook payload byte for byte, so that's what we built. And if that's not you? That's completely fine too. None of this gets in your way. It's just great NBN® that happens to have a very deep toolbox underneath.

Plug in and get on with your day

No usernames, no passwords, no settings to look up. Set your router to DHCP, plug it into the NBN® box, and you're online. Everything else stays quietly in MyAccount until you're curious.

  • Passwordless setup that works with almost any NBN®-ready router
  • Plain-English status: Looks healthy, Needs a closer look, A problem was found
  • One-click "Restart internet connection" without touching the router
  • Outage texts that hold overnight instead of waking you at 2:30 am
  • Real Australian humans when you'd rather just ask us

Engineering principles

Built by network engineers who hate fake green ticks.

When a link flaps at 2:14 am, you don't want a chatbot asking whether you've tried moving closer to the router. CrazyNBN is built around four rules we don't bend.

RULE_01

Pure IPoE. Never PPPoE.

Every service authenticates with passwordless, line-based IPoE. There are no PPPoE credentials, no CPU-hungry PPP encapsulation and no 1492-byte MTU or MSS-clamping headaches.

Set your WAN interface to DHCP and get a full 1500-byte payload straight away.

RULE_02

Real public IPv4. Zero CGNAT.

We don't put NBN® services behind carrier-grade NAT. Every connection gets a real, routable public IPv4 address by default, so port forwards, VPNs and self-hosted services just work.

Need it permanent? Add or remove a static IPv4 self-service at order time or later, with your IP, gateway, mask and DNS shown on the connection overview.

RULE_03

Online is not healthy.

  • Connected isn't Online, and Online isn't Healthy. An active bill never fakes a green heartbeat. If the last health check is over 24 hours old, we say so.
  • Completed isn't Passed. A check only shows Passed when the network's own verdict passes. A port reset tells you the port was reset, not that your fault is fixed.
  • null is never 0. Unreported metrics show as Not reported or No reading, never invented zeros.
RULE_04

Real test names. Raw readings.

Every tool shows a plain-English description and the exact NBN® test name: Online Session Check, Session Disconnect, Service Health Summary, UNI-D Port Status, SELT, DPU Port Status.

Beside them sit the network's actual readings: NBN® box serial, UNI-D link state, negotiated Ethernet speed and the MAC address of your router as seen on the port.

Live status & session control

An honest heartbeat, and a big red restart button that actually works.

Opening the dashboard reads stored state, so just looking never hammers the network. When you want live ground truth, you ask for it.

NBN® Pulse

Each connection gets a heartbeat drawn from its last confirmed network state. There are 12 states, and each one is drawn differently:

  • A clean, regular beat when the line is online and healthy, irregular beats when it needs a closer look, and sharp spikes when a problem was found.
  • A faded flatline only when we've confirmed it's offline, and a dotted neutral line when it hasn't been checked recently. No guessing.
  • "Stable for N days", worked out from the network's own lastStatusChange timestamp.
  • Pure SVG and CSS. No requestAnimationFrame CPU burn. It pauses when the tab is hidden, respects reduced motion, and has its own pause button.

Session Disconnect: restart without touching the routerDemo data · 29s

Check now, or kick it from the network side

Online Session Check queries the live session table in seconds and tells you whether your router holds an active session right now. If it says online during an "internet's down" complaint, you know straight away to look at the LAN, DNS or Wi-Fi rather than the street.

Session Disconnect drops your session from the network side, the carrier equivalent of bouncing the session at the edge. It's the fix for a wedged WAN, a router that needs to pick up a new static IP, or a box locked in a comms cupboard two hours away.

  • Your router re-authenticates over IPoE/DHCP in about 2 minutes.
  • A built-in 60-second reconnect countdown offers a one-click check to confirm it came back.
  • Every restart is logged on the connection timeline as "Internet connection restarted".
  • Sensible limits: once every 5 minutes, up to 4 times an hour.

Virtual NBN® connection box

Your NBN® box, drawn from real port telemetry.

Next to NBN® Pulse is a live illustration of your NBN® box, built from the network's own equipment inventory and port readings for your premises.

  • Technology-accurate hardware: 1-port, 4-port and 2.5 Gbps FTTP NTDs, the HFC box, the FTTC NCD and the Fixed Wireless WNTD. On FTTN/FTTB it says plainly that you're using your own VDSL modem, and doesn't draw lights that aren't there.
  • Click any port to see which named service owns it, whether a device is detected, its negotiated speed, when it was read, and a shared-box warning before any disruptive reset.
  • Multi-box pager with a masked ID tail (…0088) so you can match the label on the physical enclosure.

Health checks & line diagnostics

Run the real NBN® tests yourself, across all six technologies.

Every active connection gets on-demand access to the network's Service Health Summary and the line checks for its technology, from the fault centre or the Troubleshooting tab. Nothing is gated behind a support ticket.

Service Health Summary

One click runs a full health check and returns three independent verdicts (Connection, Speed and Reliability) plus up to 60 grouped readings from the network.

  • Operational state: Up/Down, the last state change in UTC, and the reason recorded.
  • Optical signal (FTTP): whether light levels at the NTD are within spec.
  • NBN® box: NTD ID, serial, make, port count, assigned UNI-D port, link state and negotiated speed/duplex.
  • Your router: the MAC address learned on your port. That's layer-2 proof your WAN cable and router NIC are alive.
  • Active outage: whether there's a current network outage on your circuit, with diagnostic notes.

Long or noisy copper that drops sync every time it rains? You don't need to ask support to change your line profile. Open Line stability on any active FTTN or FTTB connection, check your last Reliability verdict and 30-day drop-outs right next to the selector, and pick a profile.

It takes effect the next time your modem reconnects, and you can switch back whenever you like.

Alerts, faults & audit trail

Every event recorded. Nobody woken up for nothing.

NBN® maintenance and order cutovers love the hours between midnight and 5 am. You decide what reaches your phone, and the full record is always there in email and the timeline.

Overnight-friendly SMS

9 am to 5 pm Brisbane time (default) holds overnight texts until 9 am and drops any that a newer update has already overtaken, so you don't wake up to a pile of stale "in progress" messages.

Any time of day sends texts straight away, for on-call engineers who want to know at 3 am. Emails are never held.

Self-service fault reporting

A pre-lodgement checklist covers only the checks that apply to your technology, with a diagram of your box's lights and port.

You get a real network incident reference straight away, and we poll the fault every ~5 minutes, texting or emailing you only when its status actually changes.

Check before you order

The address checker shows the technology, service class (0–34), installed NTD and port count, copper pair details and sync estimates on FTTN/FTTB.

It also flags $0 Fibre on Demand eligibility and whether you have, or need, a 2.5 Gbps NTD for multi-gig plans.

The full history of every connection

Each connection's Timeline tab records everything, filterable across eight categories. Earlier tenures at the same address are kept, and same-day repeats fold neatly without hiding a single entry.

FAQ

Questions nerds (and non-nerds) ask.

Are health checks, line diagnostics and webhooks a paid add-on?

No. NBN® Pulse, Online Session Check, Session Disconnect, Service Health Summary, technology-specific line checks, VDSL stability profile switching and up to 10 signed webhooks are included with every Crazytel NBN® connection, on every speed tier and access technology.

I'm not a nerd. Do I have to use any of this?

Not at all. Plug in your router, set the WAN to DHCP and you're online. The diagnostics and webhooks stay out of your way in MyAccount until you want them, and our Australian support team is here if you'd rather just ask a person.

Which NBN® access technologies do you support?

All six: FTTP (including multi-gigabit 2.5 Gbps NTDs), HFC, FTTC, FTTN, FTTB and Fixed Wireless. MyAccount only offers the line checks your technology actually supports.

Do you use CGNAT or PPPoE?

Neither. Every service uses passwordless IPoE (DHCP) with a full 1500-byte MTU and a real, routable public IPv4 address. If you need a permanent address, add a static IPv4 self-service at order time or later in MyAccount.

Can a line check knock my connection offline?

Most checks are read-only and don't touch your traffic. The few that can briefly interrupt it, such as Session Disconnect, Port Reset, NTD Reset and SELT, are clearly labelled and need your confirmation first. On a shared multi-service NBN® box you'll also see a neighbour warning before any reset.

How do I verify a webhook really came from Crazytel?

Every POST includes an X-Crazytel-Signature-256 header containing a timestamp and an HMAC-SHA256 signature over <timestamp>.<raw body>. Recompute it with your signing secret, compare in constant time, and reject timestamps outside your tolerance window. The Python and Node.js examples above are ready to drop in.

Can I post alerts into a shared Slack or Discord channel safely?

Yes. Each webhook has privacy switches to strip billing details and service addresses before sending, so a team channel sees the outage and not your street address or account balance.

Ready when you are

Get your hands dirty, or don't. Either way, it just works.

Check your address in MyAccount to see your technology, your NBN® box and what's available at your place. Every diagnostic, telemetry reading and webhook is included from day one.
