Error Downloading External Provisioning -- What, and why?

USE QR CODE AUTHENTICATION

The Crazyphone app is designed to be configured exclusively through QR code scanning. Manual credential entry is not supported and will result in the ""Error Downloading External Provisioning"" message.

IMPORTANT WARNING: Generating a new QR code will reset your SIP Trunk or CrazyPBX Extension password. Any devices currently using these credentials will need to be reconfigured.

GENERATING QR CODES FOR SIP TRUNKS

  1. Sign in to the customer portal using a device other than the one you're setting up the Crazyphone app on
  1. Navigate to SIP Trunks in the left-hand navigation panel
  1. For an existing SIP Trunk:
  • Click EDIT under the SIP Trunk
  • Select Reset Password
  • Complete the confirmation call by entering the verification code when prompted
  • A QR code will be displayed on screen
  1. For a new SIP Trunk:
  • Click Add SIP Trunk
  • Configure the trunk settings as needed
  • Complete the setup process to receive a QR code

GENERATING QR CODES FOR CRAZYPBX EXTENSIONS

  1. Sign in to the customer portal using a device other than the one you're setting up the Crazyphone app on
  1. Navigate to the Extensions section
  1. Locate the extension you want to configure
  1. Click on QR Code to generate a new code for that extension
  1. A QR code will be displayed on screen

SETTING UP DESKTOP APPLICATIONS

Important Note: Crazyphone Desktop applications are compatible only with CrazyPBX Extensions, not with SIP Trunks.

To configure the desktop application:

  1. Install the Crazyphone Desktop application
  1. Launch the application
  1. Generate a QR code for your CrazyPBX Extension as described above
  1. When the QR code is displayed, simply click on it with your mouse
  1. The desktop application will automatically scan and configure itself

AFTER SCANNING THE QR CODE

Once you've successfully scanned the QR code:

  1. The app will automatically configure all necessary settings
  1. You should be able to make and receive calls
  1. The ""Error Downloading External Provisioning"" message should no longer appear

COMMON QUESTIONS

WILL I LOSE MY CURRENT CONFIGURATION WHEN I RESET THE PASSWORD?

Yes, any devices currently using your SIP Trunk or Extension will need to be reconfigured with the new credentials.

CAN I USE THE SAME QR CODE FOR MULTIPLE DEVICES?

No, for security reasons, each QR code can only be used once. You'll need to generate a new QR code for each device.

WHY DOESN'T MANUAL CREDENTIAL ENTRY WORK?

The Crazyphone app uses a secure provisioning system that requires all configuration parameters to be provided through the QR code, which includes encrypted credentials and server settings.
