Hybrid SIP Trunks - WebRTC credentials, password, TURN and calls by SIP URI
Set up WebRTC on a Hybrid SIP trunk for a browser or softphone: turn on WebRTC, copy the WebRTC password, and enter the WSS server and TURN settings in your client. You can also accept incoming calls by SIP URI, so a PBX or app can ring the trunk without one of your phone numbers.
WebRTC login details and URI calling are separate settings on the same trunk. Setup takes a few minutes per trunk.
WebRTC credentials
Where to find it
- In MyAccount, open Products > Hybrid SIP Trunks.
- Click Manage on the trunk.
- Under Settings, open:
- WebRTC - browser and softphone login details.
- Extension & URI - the switch that accepts calls to this trunk's SIP address.
The portal Softphone (under Live) registers with the WebRTC details on that trunk automatically. You only copy the credentials when you are setting up your own WebRTC app or softphone.
Turn on WebRTC
WebRTC is for browser calling and WebRTC softphones. Desk phones and CrazyPhone QR keep using the SIP password under Settings > Credentials. WebRTC has its own password. WebRTC is off until you turn it on.
- Open Settings > WebRTC.
- Switch on Enable WebRTC.
- Save. Crazytel creates a WebRTC password if the trunk does not already have one.
- Use Show and Copy to read the password. It stays hidden until you show it.
Settings for your own WebRTC client
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Server / WSS | wss://hybrid.sip.crazytel.net.au:8443 |
| Username / SIP address | sip: plus this trunk's username, then @hybrid.sip.crazytel.net.au - for example sip:your-username@hybrid.sip.crazytel.net.au |
| WebRTC password | The password shown on the WebRTC page |
| TURN host | turn.crazytel.net |
| TURN ports | 3478 UDP, and 5349 TLS |
TURN is the relay used when the browser cannot send audio directly to Crazytel.
Changing the WebRTC password
- Regenerate WebRTC password creates a new random password. Update every WebRTC client that was using the old one.
- Set a new WebRTC password lets you choose one. It must be at least 12 characters, with one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one digit, and one character from
! # $ % ^ & *. No spaces.
The portal Softphone picks up a new password on its own. A third-party client does not - paste the new password there yourself.
Accept incoming calls by URI
A URI call rings this trunk at its SIP address. The caller does not need one of your phone numbers. This is off until you turn it on. While it is off, calls to that address are rejected.
- Open Settings > Extension & URI.
- Switch on Allow incoming calls by URI.
- Save.
- Copy Inbound URI. It looks like
your-username@ring.hybrid.crazytel.net, using this trunk's SIP username.
Give that address to the PBX or app that will place the call. They dial the full SIP URI, for example sip:your-username@ring.hybrid.crazytel.net.
Calls still follow this trunk's call forwarding. To ring the trunk and skip call forwarding for that one call, dial *80 in front of the username: *80your-username@ring.hybrid.crazytel.net.
