Crazytel SIP Trunks vs CrazyPBX - ATA phones, plans and prices
Standard Crazytel SIP trunks work directly with a compatible ATA, IP phone or softphone: no existing PBX is required. Compare standard SIP trunks, Hybrid SIP trunks and CrazyPBX costs and features for one phone or a small office. Business SIP PAYG has a $0 monthly plan fee plus $0.50 per standard trunk, while $35 is the Crackers bundled plan, not the minimum SIP price. CrazyPBX PAYG is $1 per extension and CrazyPBX Business is $15 per extension.
Which product should I choose?
- Standard SIP trunk: the simple option for making and receiving calls directly on a softphone, ATA or IP phone. It can also connect an existing PBX such as 3CX or FreePBX, but owning a PBX is not a requirement.
- Hybrid SIP trunk: compare this when you want Crazytel-provided hold, transfer, internal calling, recording or a browser webphone on your trunks without a separate PBX. It can be used with your own PBX or as a cloud phone system.
- CrazyPBX: a hosted phone system with managed extensions and features such as IVR, ring groups, queues, time schedules and call recording. Choose it when you need a hosted-extension setup or the CrazyPhone desktop application, rather than assuming every single phone needs a hosted PBX.
For one office phone that only needs basic calls, compare standard SIP PAYG first. If you want bundled calls or office call handling, compare the appropriate bundled plan, Hybrid or CrazyPBX. The cheapest overall option depends on your call destinations and volume, phone-number rental and any optional features.
Business price examples
Reference prices below are AUD including GST, checked against the published product pages on 30 September 2026. Read the current product page and matching Critical Information Summary (CIS) before ordering. These are different products and plan types, not two prices for the same service.

Phone numbers (DIDs), chargeable call destinations and optional services can add to the total. Do not compare a $35 SIP bundle with a $15 hosted extension as though they are the minimum prices of each product. SIP PAYG and CrazyPBX PAYG are lower-fee alternatives with usage-based calls. SIP trunks and hosted extensions have separate plan management.
Voicemail and other voice features do not require CrazyPBX
Premium Voice Suite apps such as voicemail, ring groups, announcements, time conditions, IVR, call queues and Recording Box can be attached to a Crazytel number, including numbers used with standard or Hybrid SIP trunks. Their published base price is $1 per month per app instance, with optional usage and storage charges where listed. Do not choose CrazyPBX solely because you need voicemail or a ring group.
CrazyPhone mobile versus desktop
- The CrazyPhone mobile app works with standard SIP trunks, Hybrid SIP trunks and CrazyPBX extensions.
- The CrazyPhone desktop application requires a CrazyPBX extension. This restriction is about CrazyPhone desktop, not all softphones.
- A standard SIP trunk can still be used with a compatible third-party desktop softphone, ATA or IP phone.
Sales calls and plan restrictions
For call-centre, telemarketing or outbound-sales use, including manual B2B cold calling, use an eligible PAYG plan. Included-call bundles such as Crackers, Crazy 5, Unhinged and the bundled CrazyPBX plans are not permitted for that use. Check the product terms and matching CIS; the absence of an autodialler does not remove the restriction.
Setup and plan management
Sign in to MyAccount and manage the product you actually use: SIP trunks, Hybrid SIP trunks or CrazyPBX extensions. For modem or handset configuration, use the setup guide for the exact make and model. A device model is needed for device-specific setup, not for comparing the general plan prices above.
