Crazy 5G mobile plans - SIM-only 5G on the Optus network, pricing and international roaming
Crazy 5G is Crazytel's SIM-only mobile plan range on the Optus network. Every plan includes 5G speeds up to 150Mbps, standard national calls, SMS and MMS within Australia and international SMS and MMS, with no lock-in contract and no excess data charges, from $25 per month.

International calls are charged at the published rates and taken from your account balance. Roaming packs are extra - see below.
What happens when your data runs out
There are no excess data charges. When you use your full monthly allowance, your data is completely stopped - not slowed down - until it resets on your next billing day. Calls and texts are not affected. Data top-ups are not currently available.
International roaming
Crazy 5G plans support international roaming in the countries listed on the Crazy 5G page.
Zone 1: 5G roaming pack - $10 per day
One flat daily pack covers your calls, texts and data in 154 destinations including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand and most of Europe. Each pack includes 3000 voice minutes, 3000 SMS and 5GB of data. A pack can apply more than once in the same calendar day: once any one allowance is exceeded that day, a new $10 pack is applied and whatever is left on the earlier pack is forfeited. All roaming prices include GST and are taken from your account balance.
Zone 2 and Zone 3: pay as you go
Charged per use to your account balance and not covered by your plan inclusions. Zone 3 covers satellite and maritime networks.

Data in Zone 2 and Zone 3 is charged per MB and can cost a lot very quickly - turn off mobile data and data roaming before you travel, or use a local SIM. If we detect that you are in a Zone 2 or Zone 3 country, international roaming may be disabled on your service due to the high costs. If a country is not listed on the Crazy 5G page, roaming is not available there. Keep Auto Top-Up enabled so your service is not paused while you are away.
What you need
- An unlocked, 5G-compatible phone. A 4G-only phone works, but only on the 4G network.
- A Crazytel SIM. Postage of your first SIM is free.
- Auto Top-Up switched on, so your monthly plan fee and any extras can be taken.
Crazytel does not supply handsets, and smartwatches that use eSIM are not supported. 5G is not available in all areas - where it is not, your service runs on the Optus 4G network.
How billing works
Crazytel Mobile uses a Hybrid Prepaid model. Your plan fee is charged each month and renews until you cancel or port out. Anything outside your plan, such as international calls or roaming, comes out of your account balance. If the balance reaches zero or goes negative, calls and SMS are paused. If it stays negative for 30 consecutive days, your service is cancelled. International calls may be suspended if usage exceeds $200 in a billing cycle.
The minimum term is 1 month and the early termination charge is $0 - you can cancel or port out at any time with no exit fee. Crazytel does not give pro-rated credits for part of a billing period.
Getting started
- Create your account and set up Auto Top-Up.
- Choose a Crazy 5G plan and order your SIM. Postage of your first SIM is free and you can port your existing number across from another provider.
- Pop the SIM into your 5G phone and you are on the Optus network. Check your usage any time in your Crazytel account - usage refreshes about every 30 minutes, with SMS alerts as you approach and reach your data allowance.
Data-only SIM plans stay on 4G
Crazy 5G plans are for phones. Crazytel's data-only SIM plans (2GB, 5GB and 10GB, for IoT devices and 4G backup) remain on the Optus 4G network with speeds up to 25/5Mbps, and do not include calls, outbound SMS/MMS or international roaming. See the Mobile Broadband data SIM page.
