CrazyPBX - Making a CrazyPBX Manual Switch

Manual switches are CrazyPBX toggle-able routing tools. Manual Switches can be used to send calls to an alternative destination as needed. For example:

You have 2 CrazyPBX Extensions; 1 main receptionist, and one manager.

When the receptionist has their lunch, the manager doesn't want to answer calls. A manual switch allows the receptionist to route calls to a voicemail box during their lunch break.

Making a CrazyPBX Manual Switch

  1. Sign in to your Crazytel Customer Portal account and click CrazyPBX
  1. Click Inbound Features, then Manual Switches
  1. Click Create New Switch on the top-right
  1. In the pop-up panel that appears, configure the following required fields under Configuration:

a. Switch Number: The CrazyPBX internal identifier for this Manual Switch (IE, 001)

b. Nickname: The human-readable name for this Manual Switch

  1. Swap to the Destinations tab, and configure the following required fields:

a. Inactive Destination: Where the switch routes calls when turned off. This is the "normal" route for the switch.

b. Active Destination: Where the switch routes calls when turned on. This is the "enabled" route for the switch.

  1. Click Create Switch

CrazyPBX Manual Switches can be used in any destination field.

Using the Manual Switch

Manual Switches, when in routing, can be activated 1 of 2 ways:

  1. Via the CrazyPBX Portal: click Edit on the Manual Switch, then set the State drop-down to Active
  1. From any registered CrazyPBX Extension: Dial the shortcode for the Manual Switch (*61) + the manual switch number, followed by * and the state (1 for off, 2 for on) -- IE:

Manual Switch 001 exists on your account.

To activate this manual switch, dial *61001*2

To deactivate this manual switch, dial *61001*1

To toggle between states, dial *61001*

Call forwarding form Manual Switches

Call forwarding using a Manual Switch can be useful if a user must be contactable at all times, but is often away from their deskphone.

  1. Create your manual switch using the steps above in this guide.
  1. Set your Inactive Destination to the default destination (IE, a CrazyPBX Extension)
  1. Set your Active Destination to "Custom Destination" and enter the destination number in 61 format (IE, 0411 222 333 would be 61411222333)
  1. Complete the setup for the rest of your manual switch, and *ensure it is in routing*

Call forwarding charges apply.
