SIP Announcement
This guide covers SIP Trunk announcements. If you are using CRAZYPBX, _this is not the right guide._
Creating your SIP Trunk announcement
This guide assumes you have at least one destination configured on your account -- a SIP Trunk, Voicemail box, or a call forwarding destination.
- Sign in to your Crazytel Customer Portal and navigate to Features.
- Click Announcements, then Add New Announcement on the top-right
- Enter a Human readable Name for your announcement to identify it
- Set a Greeting (audio file) for the announcement. This can be left blank if you do not have an audio file yet.
- Set the Primary Route - this is the destination the Announcement will try first
- Set the Backup Route - this will be used if the Primary Route cannot be reached/times out
- *(optional):* Enable Allow Skip. This will skip the audio file and send calls to the Primary Route if the caller presses a DTMF key (number pad number during call)
- *(optional):* Enable Don't answer. This plays the audio without answering the call for the remote party.
NB: This will cause issues with some mobile carriers, as 183 - Early Media is not respected.
- Save your Announcement, and configure your call flow to use it as required
Uploading an audio file/greeting
To upload a Greeting audio, you will need a .wav audio file. If your recording is not currently a .wav audio file, you can use an online conversion tool like [www.g711.org](www.g711.org) to convert the file for free. Crazytel uses this service internally for file conversion.
With your .wav file, complete the following steps:
- Sign in to the Crazytel Customer Portal and navigate to Features > Greetings
- Click Upload Greeting
- Enter a logical nickname for the greeting (IE, "Announcement - "Thank you for calling..." "). This will allow you to identify the correct audio file at a glance if you have multiple audio files.
- Click the Choose file button and upload the .wav file
- Click Submit to upload the audio file to Crazytel's servers
- Navigate to Features > Announcements and click Edit under the Announcement you want to update the audio file for
- Select the newly-uploaded audio file in the Greetings drop-down on the top-right of the page
- Save changes
